Hi,
I updated my iphone 4 yesterday to the latest software and everything seemed fine. I went to play some music on it earlier but it would not play, the tracks and albums are there but it will only play the ones i have either purchased from itunes or i have burnt off an original cd. I have a feeling apple have found a way of stopping people playing downloaded/ripped off tunes. Very frustrating. Anyone else having the same problem?

mines ok and a lot of my music thats on it i downloaded for free.it all still plays.
mine stopped playing songs a while back tho ,you gotta do this to fix it Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time. Hold them both until you see the screen go black and the white Apple logo appear.(ignore the slide to power off if it comes up) When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting. i did that and it sorted it out straight away |

Thanks for the reply.
After lots of messing about and research I cleared all my songs off my phone and re-synced it. Low and behold everything now works including the free downloaded tunes. Big sigh of relief. It won't be long before apple cotton on to this though. Many thanks for taking the time to reply. |

apple already know that you can do this afterall they did design itunes. they also have no rite to tell you what you can and cant play on your idevice. sure they'd love it if you had to buy everything from itunes but they can't make you, as its your phone and you have the rite to play or install whatever you feel. like your cd's/music/games/apps from alternative sources .
