Anyone having any problems with Virgin Media internet? It seems to keep cutting out now and again. I keep getting disconnected from pes 2012 and other games keep stopping and starting online at random moments. Not good.

If its any help, my VM router used to occasionally play up (freeze and/or reboot itself) when I was busy with lots of connections going on. I just lived with it on the assumption the virgin router was just crap, until one day I noticed in the router config connection status that my connection was only locked onto 1 down stream channel, and that my signal strength was not that brilliant ... I made adjustements to the types of splitter/isolator/cables I was using, this increased my overall signal strength quite a bit, and this then meant my router now connected and locked onto 4 down stream channels instead of just 1, all my router problems dissapeared..
I dunno if the amount of downstream channels you're locked onto really makes a difference, but going from previously just locking 1 up to now locking onto 4 its made a whole load of difference to my internet experience...

http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&sou...S3gcRjY5Slf0iA Just read this. On the VM status website it says broadband service GOOD SERVICE. They are not aware of the problem. Not a steady internet stream coming through. I am in East London.

If its late evening/early morning your having problems then it may be due to the latest batch of upgrades VM are doing in some (mainly exTW) areas. They seem to be adding an extra Docsis3 channel, possibly in anticipation of the 200Meg service.
These upgrades usually cause a modem reboot and can take you offline completely from anywhere between 10 mins to 3 hours. VM's status pages will rarely mentioned downtime caused by engineering work. Last edited by TheCoder; 20-10-11 at 01:28 AM. |
