morning all,
I was given one of these well let's say no good at wireless hub as a free upgrade as i complained about the wireless on the normal hub. The wireless is pants as well known. I have 'modem only mode' in mine so know it has latest firmware. I want to connect my d-link router to it for the wireless and followed a tut on the VM site and not joy even thou i turned off wireless and tested, then modem mode only you get purple light on front of modem to let you know your i that mode. All green lights are on the d link but i can not connect to the net via the d link on either wireless nor ethernet. The way i want it is so the hub is just like the old modems, ethernet from hub to INTERNET port on teh dlink so i can connect upto 4 other thigns via ethernet to the dlink and also use the wireless from the dlink. Reason being is if i put the hub in modem mode port 1 of the hub is only one in use to pass net through over to the dlink. I have tried also accessing the dlink webpage but simply can not. Can anyone help Thank you

With mine, after arsing about for a few hours and deciding it was rubbish, I turned off DHCP, then put it into modem mode.
I then Plugged port 4 of the VM Shi***r Hub into the WAN socket on my Trusty old Netgear, and it worked like a charm m8. It's up in the loft and I can't get at it to check what I did ATM, cause I've a neck full of stitches, but that's what I did from memory. There should only be 1 port on the Shi***r Hub that works once it's in modem mode, the other 3 should be dead. It should also take a hard reset to get the thing back out of modem mode, so if you can still log in to it, it hasn't gone into modem mode.

So i have to turn off DHCP off on the poohub? not teh wireless router?
If it is in modem mode you simply go to 192.168.1.100 to access it

Yes m8, the poohub should literally give web access in modem mode and nothing else. Leave DHCP to your router. You should only have 1 device acting as a DHCP server on your network or you will get IP conflicts galore. In modem mode I can't access mine at all and according to the manual that came with mine that's how it should be.
Its inbuild DHCP server came preset as 192.168.0.x and wouldn't reconfigure to 192.168.1.x for love or money. As all my static IP's were configured as 192.168.1.x that annoyed me no end.

The router needs a Modem for internet access, you should still have network connectivity between attached devices without a modem m8
Plug your pc/laptop into the router with a cat5, have nothing else connected and you should be able to access the routers web interface.
