Default advice on buying a new laptop

first time buyer of a laptop can anyone advice me on the best one to buy ? have £350-£400 to spend just before xmass.

what i;m looking for is one with
4gig ram
good fat prosessor
at least 350 gb hd
dvd & cd rewriter
hdmi connectivity so i can connect it to my tv
card reader
at least 2 usb ports
ethernet conection for wireless internet
at least 16 ins screen
and more than 4 hours battery life

any advice would be great

would also like to wheres the best place to bye one from in manchester

many thanks . ps was thinking of going to bowlers in traffort park . any advice on that would be great

if you are thinking of looking at a shop rather than online try Tesco very competetive prices

been looking on the net about laptops from supermarkets a lot of advice say they sell mostly end of line laptops so not to sure about that .

A bit scared to buy on line as i;m not sure about useing my credit card on line , have never used my card to buy anything on line cant trust it .
But would;nt mind buying on line if i can order it by phone & use my card that way any good web companys u can tell me about on line that sell good laptops would b great . one more question can anyone tell me the best make to go for ?

If you're worried about trust, you could always just go to Dell - am sure they provide phone sales as well - pretty solid computers all round.

the spec you quoted at the top is definately available at tesco , or as brian said dell ,,

Toshiba Satellite Pro R850-15E + Carry Case + USB 2.0 Bub+ Mouse for £499.95. It is a Bundle Offer from Latestchoice.

There is a i3 processor which is a descent one, 320 GB Hard Disk and the screen size is 15.6, dvd drive is there and everything you have mentioned. But there is only 2GB RAM I think.

go for a google product search with specification you want and you can find the best.
