Please could any one help i was doing a factory restart on my pc when we had a power cut. Now it will not start all i get is an error message and not the option to repair from hard disk only by cd and yes my instalation files are on patition on my hard drive.

I take it you have a product key ? Can you borrow a DVD off a m8, failing that ask someone to dowwnload and burn a ISO for the version your product key is for. That will allow you to do a clean install of windows.
Next time you get a new PC, make the backup disc set before you do anything else

there may be something on a hirens disk ,, i know they have a mini version of xp on there and perhaps if you install it off the hirens disk which doesnt install the operation system to your hard drive at all but allows you to use a mini version of xp under windows then you may be able to access the recovery partition or even your c drive and do a check disk which may clutching at straws help you in the recovery if not you have lost a few hours
