Hi any one help,

I uninstalled realplayer and on my taskbar the words Audio HD codec, flashed up.I no longer have sound or my volume icon,since reinstalled realplayer and no difference.Went into control panel-Sounds and Audio Devices box opened and is greyed, two boxes say sound playback default device and no playback devices,Could some one let me know how to recover these please,this is not an laptop.

re install the drivers.

first try rolling back the driver if that dosent work then as the above poster says you have to reinstall the driver easiest way is to go to contol panel / system / device manager / hardware / sound video and game controllers / then delete ac97 combo codec driver ...and maybe any realplayer driver you find in there then reboot ,windows should reinstall the driver you need
