Default Technomate TM-5402 HD CI Super with motorised dish???

Hi,
I am looking for a new satellite receiver to replace my visiosat TVS 4200D receiver.

We love in S of France, and have a motorised dish usually pointed at Astra 2 for the UK free-to-air channels. For some reason, we cant get Atlantic 3, so miss out most of the French stations (no great loss ). But I am interested in getting a receiver that will work with a TNT decoder as I believe TNT satellite is also available on Astra.

I like the look of the Technomate TM-5402 HD CI Super can you tell me if it will work with this kind of dish, and would it be able to cope with a not very savvy end user setting it up ? Is it to much to hope that given that the moveable dish is already in the right place, this would be a plug and play replacement job?

Any help or advice much appreciated!

Hi,

You have a motorised dish, best option would be to work out why you can't get 5W, unless you have line of sight issues you shouldn't have a problem.

TNT sat is on 19.2E, the UK channels are on 28.2E, i.e not the same satellite.

TNTsat needs a dedicated TNT receiver generally, though I expect a Dreambox or other Linux might work with it.

The TM5402 will work with a motorised dish, though whether it's a plug n play replacement of your existing receiver is impossible to say without further information on how your existing is set up and what it consists of.

Hi,
Thanks for the speedy and helpful reply.... what other information would you need to be able to say whether a "plug and play" approach might work?

I think you will find one of the nicest to use ... especially if it is preprogrammed ..... but as robbo says you need to estabish what is up with the motor now or is it the old receiver.

Problem is the old receiver. The motorised dish is still working fine. the atlantic 3 problem is a line of sight issue. Hence the idea of going for tnt satellite instead
Sorry, dont know about the usal issue. I ll try to get a photo when i can... Currently dark in the morning before i go to work and when i get home.
Thanks again
Steve

It depends on the motor type, if its a 36 V, it wont be plug n play, if its an old diseqc it won't either. You need to go round the sats one by one storing their position. Als, if the motor is a 36V, you'd need a vbox too, if youve not got one already.
