Are you sure its not the finer and sharper clarity thats making you think its grainy, VGA is analog video so there will be a bit of smoothing going on there.. How do other HDMI devices look when connected to your TV ?

I am positive that the image quality is poor, I haven't tried another HDMI device yet.
I have a V+ HD box which I can use to test, I will post the results back here in a short while .

As a test, try the different TV resolution settings in the graphic cards control panel TV settings, try 720p, see if thats nice and clear.. Let us know if it is... Then try 1080 again, see if changing refresh rate improves it, try anything, fiddle about with all available settings, its gotta be some output setting in control panel that your TV is specifically needing.. Let us know how you get on..
