I want to put some new parts in my computer. My computer is pretty new, but I want to add a few things. If I want to put a new processor in my computer, is it necessary to put a new motherboard in it? I have an AMD 64 X2 3800+ 2.0 Ghz processor in it now.

All depends on your paticular motherboard, if you know the make & model then go to the manufacturers website, look up support for it, read the manual maybe, there they will probably detail what CPU's it supports..

Different brands and types of CPU have different socket types, you will need a new motherboard to accommodate each socket type.
