I keep seeing posts about users having problems getting Picons to display on E2 boxes like the DM800 and Vu+. As standard, they will display if put on a USB stick or in flash memory /usr/share/enigma2/picon

They do not usually automatically display when they are stored on a HDD, here's how you fix that. In most E2 images, the Picon path is specified in usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components/Renderer/Picon.py

Open the picon.py file in a Linux friendly text editor and you will see a couple of external locations specified, /media/cf/%s/ and /media/usb/%s/, just change the cf to hdd, then save and overwrite the original file - when you reboot, you will have picons.

Another way is to create a Symlink creating a shortcut in flash. Open a Telnet session and type the following:

ln -s /media/hdd/picon /usr/share/enigma2/

Then close the session and reboot.
