hello, i am in need of help. I have tm6900hd combo and the other day i was retuning my dish with the technomate motor. I was outside by the dish trying to peak my meter using the buttons on the motor. B4 that my receiver was fine but the picture was breaking after a windy day, as i peaked the meter i came back inside to find my receiver completly dead.
there was no sign of life at all, no led lights whatsoever. I was told by someone that it could be the power supply board on this receiver. I have not done any checks as i am not familiar with it,i would therefore ask your good samatarians if there is any way to restore this machine. I do thank you in anticipation, Fastken |

It may be worthwhile checking that, While checking the motor that you have not shorted the cable. It only takes one of those thin wires touching the center wire to short it.Modern recievers have short circuit protection that shuts the box down to avoid damage.
Try disconecting the cable from the reciever, see if it comes on.

Thank you for your reply. I have done that disconnected the the cable from the dish and reconnected the mains but no go. Is it possible as i was told to re-install the firmware,if so how do you do it.
I was very pleased with this receiver and i would hate to loose it. Fastken |

I would think that you need to find out why the reciever do's not switch on, first.
They do say that power supply problems are usually caused by failed capacitors in the power supply. You can usually spot them because they are domed instead of flat on the top. Hopefully someone that knows your reciever will be along soon.

i have removed the cover of the receiver and had a good look at the power supply board mostly at the capacitors and find nothing suspicious. however, at the pins plug and measuring voltages there are some pins that don,t have the correct voltages specified.

I once had a power supply problem with my TM9100.It turned out that the white power supply plug feeding the main board was loose.
