Good morning all.
I have just had a message from a friend, he is wanting to swap his Xperia Neo HD and an iPod Touch for my iPhone 3GS 16GB. Is it worth a gamble? The Xperia appears to have more features than the iPhone (including 720p video recording and an 8.1MP camera) but I am just gathering a few opinions before I make a decision. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks. |

never had an android phone but hve had many sony ericssons in the past and wouldnt go there if i was you. personally id keep the 3gs as there could be a siri release in the very near future. there are ways to get android apps for free but it doesnt recieve half the hard work or effort that goes into ios hacking an development not to mention the amount of tricks an idevice can perform with unlimited tweaks.

I have looked at Siri for the iPhone and it looks pretty cool but I don't think I will be using it. I have used Android before and I know how the platform works as I have owned a couple of Android devices in the past.
Sony Ericsson has always been my favourite brand but this is the first time I have owned an Apple device. Maybe I will sit on it for a while and compare the features of each before I make a decision. Thanks. |

Android aims to have a lot of functionality that iOS has, but really iOS is better honed and better developed for the user experience IMO.
Apple carefully put everything together so that everything works best - and don't be fooled by megapixels on phone cameras - my daughter's 5mp iPod takes pictures of the same if not better quality than my HTC Desire HD with a claimed 8mp camera. It's not what you got, it's the way that you use it - and Apple use everything to maximum effect.

iPhone is still leading the race with its features and I doubt that Android Ice Cream Sandwich will give a tough competition to it.

You got it wrong. Not only is the iPhone (and any other Apple product, for that matter) not about the features, in fact it's always a step behind, purposely holding back on features so they can sell you the "new and improved version" next year with everything that it should have had in the first place. Have you forgotten that the first iPhone didn't even have 3G??? They clearly left it out on purpose to force you to upgrade. Do you think leaving out the front facing camera on the first iPad was an accident or that they didn't have the means to do it? Pleeeease. What Apple sells is a slick user experience; not specs, not features. If you want your phone to be an appliance, then by all means, go for it. To each his own. But don't fool yourself thinking you have the best tech available to man at the time of release, because that's _never_ the case with Apple. |

The Samsung Galaxy S II is probably the best phone on the market now. The Xperia Play *just* beats the iphone 4 (not the 4S) and it costs 2.5 x less as well After using an iphone (having to "use" it to figure out things for my Mum who is dead set on an iphone), I can say that it is very limited compared to android but they've made it user friendly and "easy" to use Fair enough, it's in a companies interest to dumb down features to make devices do quite complicated stuff behind the scenes (ie: a GUI) but outright not including certain features makes a phone lack functionality It's one of the reasons why people jailbreak their iphone, put custom ROM's on Android phones and put DDWRT on routers

i have used both and i think android is way ahead, but only when coupled with a great handset with it like a top end htc or galaxy s2.
if i was to swap my iphone for lets say a htc wildfire or samsung ace then i would happly keep my iphone, but i aint had a chance to play with an xperia neo so i cant advise you on if you should go for it. |

The Xperia Play just about beats the iphone 4 (according to a lot of online reviews) and it's quite awesome considering that it only costs £150-£200 new when you're looking at spending £270+ for a used iphone 4. It's madness ![]() ![]() AND now my Mum's not listening to me and wants the iphone 4. Sorry for the rant
