Default no networking but im sure its simple

im having a bit of hassle setting any kind of link to my dbox2 (sportster)
i have tryed to my laptop with rj45 x-over and trough a router with 2 std rj45 patch
no link activty from my box i have tried dchp
it seems as if the port is off?
if i test it the box says the ip i set for the port 192.168.1.202 is reachable
but averything else is unabtainable.
i set my laptop to ip 192.168.1.201 10/half duplex
i would of thort i would be able to get some auto dchp link?
i tryed the flashfxp guide no luck

i need to backup my new box and have tryed a few guides to do this maybe ist some kind of driver for the networking?
my port gets a few active blinks when i conect and i have a conected light on so i dont think its cables

If connected directly to PC with xover cable, try setting you PC NIC to 192.168.1.1 and set your DBox to 192.168.1.100 with netmask 255.255.255.0 and default gateway to 192.168.1.1 make sure you (re)start the network and save settings.

Make sure all your firewalls and Internet security is turned off - you shouldn't have to set the NIC for 10 half duplex, auto negotiiation should be fine.
