Unfortunately , I have no experience in manual tuning a freesat box outside of the uk, and I've only ever manually tuned foxsats in the uk

So I then plug the UK BUSH fresat box in and the Tv comes up with the freesat box screen and has 3 slider type boxes with nothing and the bottom of the screen says NO SIGNAL what am I doing wrong?
You could also not be aligned to te correct satellite , it's easy to get the wrong one. A cheap fta satellite box would be better. As you can monitor a transponder and look at the signal quality bar. A scan on the transponder would confirm that you are on the correct satellite. I have notice that the signal quality bars of freesat boxes tend to be dubious.

I would say you are on the wrong satellite.

So would i - if he could get a satellite installer to check is the dish on the correct satellite it will save a lot of messing/time.
Once the dish is correctly aligned then a least he knows he is on correct sat so if it still dont work maybe the 2 metre dish isn't big enough.

hi all thanks for all of the great advice and help

I have now found a sat and the fresat box says I have a steady 40% signal It tunes in and gives me a listing of allthen chanels about 100 of them... but if I choose BBC 1 or ITV it tells me "no signal" but I do get a picture and sound on lots of the others is it something I still need to do?

Do the channels match those listed? Check for any logos and post the channel names.
40% is not a good signal you still need to tweak the dish and possibly skew (Rotate) the LNB.

Hello, I have a similar problem and wonder if there is a hardware issue. I have a no name satellite receiver, and before that a Phoenix Apollo. I am in Luxembourg, and can watch all the free to air channels. I bought myself a Goodmans GFASAT200HD on one of my previous trips to the UK, but it says no signal. Recently, my son gave me his old Skybox, and that too says no signal. As I get very good reception on my other receivers, I wonder if there is a cable or LNB that might need to be different. I notice that the F connector I have just barely slots onto the LNB input on the Sky box.

All help gratefully received.
