Default Freesat setup

Hi,
I have installed a 1.2mtr dish looking at astra1/2 and the meter tells me I have a strong signal. I have hoocked it up to a BUSH fresat box (purchased in the UK) it askes for a postcode that I enter but it will not see the signal.... What am I doing wrong?

Astra 1 is 19.2E, Astra 2 is 28.2E, are you sure you're on the right satellite?
Which regions postcode are you entering, just use google to find a UK one that matches the area you're after.

Aegina ??? Is that your location, I think you'd need a much bigger dish to get anything from 28.2e..

Thanks for this yes I am on a small Greek island called Aegina post code 180-10, I have a friend who has the same setup but they use an old skybox with a card and it works. Do you know if a freesat box is the same?

Freesat boxes use the FTV channels that are on a tight beam over the UK, sky boxes use a lot more satellites some have tight beams others have wide beams. I cant see you getting anything off the tight beams in Grease with a 1 meter dish unfortunately. I would have thought you would need at least a 2 meter and even then I'm not sure it would work. What channels do your friends get?

I think you are going to have to tune the box manually, and see what you get, as Freesat mode is not going to work unless you get signal on the frequencies that it needs.

I doubt whether a 2m dish is big enough either to get 2D.

The orbital positions of the satellites of course do remain the same from wherever you are. But the angle you have to point your dish does change.

Look at www.dishpointer.com

Thankyou for the information, the wife would not let me play with it on Christmas day (cant understand why) So I now have a strong signal in the direction of Astra 1 / 2 the signal indicator tells me to set it at 5 and if the needle reads 10 the decrease the knob setting and I can now get a reading of 6 with the knob showing 2. So I then plug the UK BUSH fresat box in and the Tv comes up with the freesat box screen and has 3 slider type boxes with nothing and the bottom of the screen says NO SIGNAL what am I doing wrong?
