Aint the BBC giving it a go for the Olympics, but just broadcasting it to their own big screens that are going to be dotted about the UK... Consumer wise, I thinks it probably at least 10 years away..

I think there are only 1 or 2 cameras in the World. If they do have them at the Olympics it would likely only be a single camera. I doubt a full Super Hi-Vision will ever be broadcast to the home, I would expect other developments before that - maybe Holographic based.

I still cant see what all the fuss is about

HD is no better than a good analogue picture was. I'm convinced its whole point was to improve the low bite rate SD digital it transmitted in and to compensate for early LCD TV's that had terrible picture quality compared to standard CRT TV's

What it super hi vision anyway?

I recon that the constant changing of standards is a manufacturers ploy to keep us throwing perfectly good tv's away. and buying new ones.
After all tv's are so reliable these days. If we did not keep changing them. They might as well shut the factorys down.
In fact it looks like 3D is down the pan already.

So far it's only been IP. It needs so much bandwidth, that's why I don't think it'll ever happen
