Hi, I have an old V+ HD box that I disconnected before I cancelled my old services with Virgin. In theory the box card and box should still be paired. I was wondering if I can use this box (as freeview) on a new contract with virgin (for broadband only) at a different address.
I know old Sky+ HD boxes will let you view their freeview channels without a subscription, but I understand that Virgin don't let you. Does anyone know a way that I can use this old V+ HD box with a live Virgin broadband feed to allow me to use this old box for freeview (just like Sky+ HD allows you)? THnx for any help |

Hi
I was wondering if anyone can help, dont know what the best option is really and the question above seems to relate to my situation. basically i am trying to sort my mums tv out (due to the switched over) she doesnt have any external area at the house she is in (it is rented) and she has the old analogue tvs which gets the basic channels. My question is, she has got a cable/virgin media outlet in the house, if i get her an old virgin box, would she be able to get the standard channels through that without having to get subscription or what is the best thing i can do, she just wants to be able watch the basic 5 channels. thanks |

If the VM Cable Feed is disconnected you wont get anything... Why not spend 20 quid on a DVB Freeview box, because if she's getting analog channels she should be able to get digital freeview channels too... Analogs going off everywhere anyway, so digital is all there'll be anyway..

thanks for all your advise, tried getting DVB Freeview box but it couldn't get any signal without an external ariel, so just thought there might be an easier option, as like i said she just watch the basic channels.

Well Jaz, you'll either have to put an aerial or satellite dish up, buying a secondhand VM box will be a waste of money...
Btw, how is she watching analog TV if she has no aerial ?
