Default Eurovox max blue box

Hi , Bought the eurovox on August 2 2006 off a trader on e-bay. Box has gone kapputt. Just get a quick display off green flahes on the lcd panel and then nothing. Tried the reset button after taking the cover off and tried reflashing but just get" waiting for your receiver" message.

Do you think I have the right to a replacement?

Hi there - think I am in exactly the same position as you (also bought August 2006!):

Eurovox Max - has it died?! thread by me

I managed to track down my eBay seller from my PayPal records (he had changed ID). Afyer my first contact explaining it was completely non-functional, he has asked for Auction details, PayPal Transaction details and the serial number on the bottom of the unit.

I'm waiting to see what he says next (his auction definitely did say 12 months guarantee).

the warranty is from the person who sold it to you but thats the problem with ebay anyone can set up as a trader and disapear the next day ,there are websites out there that sell these boxes and have been tradeing for years and do honour the 1 year warranty and prices are the same as ebay

I have sympathies with alex123 - but then again I'm biased coz he and ronster worked their a**es off yesterday to try get my 2006 going again.

eBay is a real pig-in-a-poke, shot in the dark sometimes to save very little compared to net-shop prices. I now realise I have been ripped-off twice recently. Bought a 22" LCD Dell monitor from eBay on strangth it was new from Overclockers (private seller has connection to that site) and carried a 4 year warranty instead of 3 from Dell. Having now checked, Dell warranty for LCDs is non- tranferable so I have a 22" with no warranty even if I could find the seller in 3 years time! Bought a 512 graphics card for my new PC (£12 less than net shop) - warranty lies somewhere between my private seller, his supplier and the manufacturer - no real chance to redeem!!!

If it is any help MIKEY1968 - I found my Eurovox seller using PayPal records, emailed to his dodgy hotmail business address, then repeated the message under one of his current auctions on the Bay and did not let-up. I got asked for every single detail of transaction (which I was able to give from PayPal) then he has asked me to return the unit to them. £7.20 Recorded Delivery shot at it but I'm hopeful of getting something - this seller under new guise is a "Power Seller" so has this status to lose if I cause trouble with his status on it.

Much easier, I guess, to pay few pounds more as alex123 was suggesting, and know you are not gonna get shafted!

If this is any help MIKEY1968 - this is text of letter I taped to my returned unit!

"Dear Sir

EUROVOX MAX (2006 Blue Box) – RETURN UNDER TERMS OF WARRANTY

Following our exchange of messages via eBay, I hereby return my faulty Eurovox and Remote Control as you requested, so that you can assess my claim under warranty.

On 22 August 2006 I purchased from you - by best offer on eBay - this "Eurovox Max V3 Cable Box " (Ebay Item XXXXXXXXXXXX). I made immediate payment via PayPal (Paypal Transaction ID No. 6VXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX).

Your auction stated that the box carried a 12 month warranty.

Unfortunately the box has now stopped working. Upon power-up, a single element of the display simply circles round the LED panel in an endless loop. It is unable even to reach the "----" state. The machine does not respond to the remote or front-panel buttons. If I unplug, wait and plug back in, it just resumes this endless clockwise circle pattern on the LED display. It has no output whatsoever.

Under expert guidance from the Techwatch internet forum, I have attempted to reset the machine using the reset button on the mainboard under the cover. This had absolutely no effect. Under their expert guidance, I have also attempted to reinstall the firmware using the CD supplied, attempted to reinstall using Voxer, and attempted a specialist error fixer. On all occasions the software simply finds that the Eurovox Max "cannot be detected" and I can proceed no further.

Here are all the transaction details you requested:
  • Model - Eurovox Max (2006 Blue Box)
  • Method of Purchase - Ebay Offer of £90
  • (goes on with all the personal stuff I would not repeat here)
End quote - I then ask them to contact me at earliest convenience.

Worth a try!

"I have attempted to reset the machine using the reset button on the mainboard under the cover."

This will enable him to simply turn round and say the magic words.

"You opened your box, therefore your warentee is null and void".

And he will have 100% backing from the law on that!

If it's faulty you should NEVER open any electrical item. You should arrange to send it back.
