Default Technisat HDFS - recording on hard drive

Hi

I recently purchased a Technisat HDFS freesat HD box, one of the reasons being it lets you record programmes onto an external hard drive.

So I purchased a Western Digital My Passport for this purpose but when I attached it via USB, the Technisat didn't recognise the WD My Passport and I don't know what to do about it.

I am now using the WD for another computer backup and am going to purchase something else to use to record programmes off the Technisat, but I have done some research and am confused. Some posts say I have to format the hard drive to FAT32, but other posts tell me FAT32 only goes up to 4GB. I am not intending to record vast amounts of programmes, probably only need a hard drive for say 4hrs worth of TV but I have no idea how many GB that would equate to and what sort of formatted hard drive I would need to work on the Technisat

Any help gratefully received

thanks
