Hello all on Techwatch,
I am using a Kryptview A750 with an I-Connector attached. All has been brilliant until the other day when I noticed that one of my favourite channels would not show anymore. I am using Software Kryptview A750 pv3.8.00, dated 24/04/2011 and hardware version is 2.0.0. I have the I-Connector box connected up to my Virgin Media Hub running 100mb broadband via 2x belkin homeplugs. As I have said I have been able to watch most channels on the box for months and months and not had any problems. Apart from the occassional rescanning on the Birmingham 750mhz. On Wednesday night (11th January) I went through the channels and as there was nothing decent on the telly I fancied watching I decided to leave MTV Dance on for some background music playing along whilst I would do some work on my computer. However MTV Dance (Channel No. 0319) showed the 'Scrambled or No Video' message. I was a bit disappointed in this as MTV Dance is one of my favourite channels I like watching as I am heavily into Dance Music. The first thing that I assumed would be to rescan the box. I deleted all channels and reset the box back to its default factory settings. I then rescanned the box and assigned it to Birmingham 750MHz which I normally assign it to. It began locating the channels including listing MTV Dance as it did previously. However, when coming to watch MTV Dance the channel would not be displayed and the message 'Scrambled or No Video' would be on screen. Today, I have rescanned the box again using the above method and still nothing from MTV Dance. I am able to receive MTV MTV Base, MTV Hits and MTV Rock but for some reason I cant see MTV Dance. Now I have had a quick look through the Forums here on techwatch and I have seen many comments that relate to updating the firmware on the box. I have included the Firmware Version and date above. I see that on my box and using the I-Connector box I should be able to update online by going into the Main Menu, Installation, Entering 0000 as the password, and then choosing s/w update. I have tried this. First the box comes up 'Searching new update' then after a few seconds it appears with the message 'Download update will start after reboot'. The box automatically resets it self and when it comes back on it shows a downloading progress bar and the I-Connector box starts flashings its LEDs as the progress bar goes up to 100%. I have never updated my box this way before and I was hoping that this would be the solution. Previously I have updated the box by linking it up to a serial port on my computer and writing the firmware over. However, now that the box is permanently online I thought that the online option would do this for me. What I am ending up with when trying to update online iss the box downloading the update to 100% then it just freezes. It reaches 100% then just sits there. The I-Connector box jut sits with all 4 LEDS permanently on but the Kryptview box appears to do nothing. Is there anything that I should be doing at this stage ? ? On the front of the box it just has the word "On" displayed on the green LED display. Also there is no response from the remote to exit or go back or to even switch the box into Standby mode. I then have to unpower the box using the Mains switch on the back of the box and leaving it off for a couple of mins before switching it back on and rebooting the box. Upon the box coming back on, once again I am able to view channels but no MTV Dance. All the other MTV Channels are there as described above but no MTV Dance. Could someone verify if this is a server problem or a channel problem. If this is a server problem is there any way that you can check the status of the Kryptview server. Either online website or by using the box. Also as for updating the Box online, am I doing it correctly or is there anything else that I need to do. Do I need a new firmware version at all. I am based on the border of Small Heath and Bordesley Green in Birmingham. If anyone could give me some assistance regarding this I would be very grateful. Thankyou in advanced. Jay-J

Thanks for that reply jimbo. How do I update the I-Connector box please.
I have looked at the link you have provided but I am not sure what firmware version I need or how to install this onto the I-Connector box. Once the update is applied to the I-Connector box can I then update the Kryptview box online??? I appreciate your help - thankyou Jay-J |

Thanks for your help and assistance Jimbo.
I have updated the box firstly using the KV Loader program and then online to update both the I-Connector and also the Kryptview box. I confirm I am now using firmware dated 02/12/2011 Kryptview A750 pv4.1.00 I have done a rescan using the Birmingham 750 setting. I appear to have all channels although still no MTV Dance (Channel 0319). The channel is listed however it is showing 'Scrambled or No Video' when selected. Is there any way of checking the status of the Kryptview servers or the things that are needed to display the channel, to see if they are down. Is there anything else that I need to be doing to get this channel working or anywhere where I can check if this channel is being sent to Kryptviews as it should be. Thankyou so much for you assistance and also for help with the updates. It appears, thanks to you, that i now have an up-to-date Kryptview A750 and I-Connector box missing the one channel that I would like. Jay-J |

Thankyou for your input there hazeltree.
When you say its a server issue, is there anywhere where we can check the status of Servers ? ? ? Or it that if a channel is not showing then we just assume that the server is down ? ? ? ? Thankyou Jay-J |
