Default Help with old pro logic surround sound.

Hi folks. I have an old Sanyo HT-D47 surround sound system which does Pro Logic has TV scart and DVD scart inputs and the red white and yellow phono ones. I want to connect it to our new Panasonic TX-L37V20BA TV which has all the modern connections, an old Tevion DVD/HDD which has scarts and phonos and a Virgin cable box.

I have tried various combinations but at present surround is only OK through TV. With some combinations I have the DVD picture on the TV but whichever programme is on the TV sound comes out of the surround sound. I have also had the picture and sounds OK and synced but then the sound does not come out of the TV speakers which it has to with this model of surround sound as the TV speakers complete the set.

I know I am trying to connect the old with the new here but even if I can get the TV and DVD sound OK that would do.

Any ideas / help gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum,
When you say surround sound do you mean stereo (2.0) or 5.1 or 7.1 because as far as im aware you can only get stereo from scart or red/white outputs (or is this what you want?). Surround normaly uses spdif or hdmi.
Someone more clued up than me will prob help you out in the morning.

Most tv's you can set the tv speakers as centre, not sure how you would get the tv ones to function left and right front using a separate centre box, on my set up i have left and right front, and left and right rears, with a centre box, although i could use the tv as centre, i also have a bass box but dont have that on all the time, when kids are in bed etc.
maybe an extra pair of front speakers would work better ?
