New to satelite

Hi guys please forgive me as I am new to the world of satelite tv.
I got a dreambox 500s.
How do I scan and add channels?
A few of the FTA's are missing and naturally I'd like them.
I don't have an outside arial but do have a sky dish doing nowt, so thought i'd use it.
I've scanned the astra transponders, but even though it picked loads up hasn't added them as channels.

The Dreambox 500s is a linux based receiver, which can run various software, and plug ins, which means each is slightly different.
What image, and extra software, do you have loaded on yours?

Where do I find that out?

It should tell you on boot up, or by checking the menu.
I think you need to read up on the Dreambox 500s as it is not a plug & play receiver.
Have a read through the sticky threads, in this section, to see what your receiver is capable of.

firstly if you want uk fta channels then you should be scanning astra 28.2e sattalite and you can tick the option fta only.... if you leave the fta option unticked then you wil have a complete channel listing of the astra satelite which will include all the sky uk channels including movies and sports but you will not be able to view them without having a subcribed sky card in the box or something else ? the best image for that patrticular box is open pli jade max var 3 hope this helps
