Apologies for asking a silly question, but does the Xbox output HD?

Just that I remember one of the original selling points of the PS3 was the blu-ray player, but does this mean that only the PS3 normally plays in HD?

Just thought I'd ask.

any of the slim versions of xbox 360 will have an hdmi output as standard. although hdmi wasnt implemented in the early 360 models only the elite was hd compatible at that point. although ive heard the 360 will also output 1080p via component or vga.

With games yes it does output 1080P. How I know this is because I owned the console few yrs back before I decided to sell it off. As steve mentioned about you will get HD via component or HDMI.

Earlier consoles only came with a component connection and not hdmi but yes there newer ones do have the Hdmi port now.

also there only play dvd to an upscaled spec im sure the PS3 is more HD than the xbox this is all due to the blu ray player that is taking over dvd

PS3 Game: 720p (some games like GTA will play in 1080p)
Sony think 720p is best as there dont like 1080p ive read somewhere.

XBOX games: 1080p all games ive seen play at this rate.
