Just wondering what would provide me with a quality connection for my open box wired or wireless or any other methods and why. The router is upstairs in a room and the open box is downstairs in the living room.

Wired would be the best option. However u could get away with wireless connection if you have a strong signal in mu opinion.
Alternatively if you want to spend then u can always go for home plugs which is an extention of wired over the air.
