Hi holliefabbabe,
welcome to the forum. Do you have a satellite meter? Does this light up when connected between your cable run and LNB? Can you check your triax cable on your Sky dish, a spare LNB port, just to test that the cable is working? Check dishpointer.com to see where your dish should be pointing for 0.8W. |

yes , i have two , a basic one that has a buzzer and a manhatan one that does astra , from those there was nothing
i have had both lengths of cale joined to the one of the shot gun wires for the sky dish to the box , and no issues there , as got picture from sky dish, i also checked cable with a diode test when i did the ends to make sure there was conections and no direct shorts , as for where to point , acording to dishpointer its nearly inline with my rear fence so direction is near correct , iam wondering if i have not got setting correct on the box |

Can you post some pictures of your dish?
I use a very cheap satellite meter, cost between £5-£6, including post, this has a light, with a needle and tone display. I know if the LNB, and cable, is working correctly using this, I then tune the meter, using the only control, so that it is midway on the scale, 5/10, this is then that sensitve that immediately I locate any signal, from any satellite, it moves, even though my receiver doesn't recognize any signal. I then move the dish, rihgt, left, until it raches 10, turn down the senistivity to 5, then continue to fine tune the dish, once this is done I do the same with elevation. Once I have peaked the signal I scan in channels, on my receiver, and check which satellite I'm on. |

The satellite meter just makes it easier, with the inbuilt one you need to find a particular satellite, and ensure you get enough signal for it to register, the meter just makes it slightly easier.
Also forget the elevation markings, on the dish, for 0.8W the dish should be close to vertical, gently adjust the elevation, and angle, of the dish until you get a signal. |
