Default DBOX 500 (S) - £170 - Worth it?

Hi,

Simple and quick question.

Someone is selling me a Dreambox 500s with "the goods" for £170. Not sure if it's an original DB500s or not. It is all black in color.

Is it worth it?

Thank you very much

It will not be an original box, they haven't been made for several Years. You may be able to buy cheaper but if it works well for 12 Months, then it could be considered good value.

That's as far as we can go on here.

Totally understand linco however, I noticed you sell them on your site without "the goods" for £55.00. I'm just wondering why I can't buy one of you and perform the extra stuff mysef - or is it not as simple as that without going into details? Are "the goods" worth the extra £115?

Now this might be a little iffy to answer but does the D500so provide the goods in the same way a Kryptview A780 does? or is the KV more reliable?

Cheers Linc!

I would think that many people do just that, plenty of servers around if you do a google search.

Cheers Linc.

As you are an expert in the types of boxes available, I have one last questio:

Which is the best, most reliable box to buy for a cable customer? (off course I will be looking to provide the extras myself).

The one posted in the picture above belongs to my father-in-law. As good as it is, it has a habit of cutting out thus prompting him to pull the power cord out for a few seconds before firing it up again.

The most reliable for any service is to subscribe officially. Of the un-official cable boxes, IMO, The Starview is a better box, it has proper wide-screen switching a USB for recording and again IMO, better PQ. The servers appear to be very similar with a few more complaints about the KV server recently.

Which Starview box are you referring to Mr. LS? Is there a dedicated forum thread to this particular model?

The only currently available Starview cable box is the Starview7 - http://www.techwatch.co.uk/forums/starview/
