Default help, connecting dm500s to pc

hi lads
just got a dm500s from lincsat (thx m8) i cant get it connected to pc for love nor money. i have this cable, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Serial-DB9...ht_1927wt_1089 ive installed the driver for it, it shows up working fine in device manager (win 7) ive tried using dreambox edit and dcc and ive tried diffo combinations of connecting box with null cable only, power on, power off, manualy entering ip of db and i cant connect?????
any help would be gr8 lads

What are you trying to do, the box has a configured image on it?

You need an Ethernet connection to FTP to the box, the IP address has nothing to do with the null-modem connection.

You can get a cable if you got em in your area at a 99p shop , dont forget that different images can have different passwords

cheers, i got it working no bother with the other cable, mind dcc and db edit wouldnt work, so i used filezilla edited config file and vola, but im missing the likes of bbc1 and itv1 and a few other freeview channels (just a blank screen) wouldnt mind gettin them on too

well freeview should work, google king of sat site and find out what freq they are on and do a manual scan on it, perhaps lincsat needs to talk u through it, in case u mess up.

The channel list on your box has generic BBC & ITV (London Region) at no 1 and 3 - look in the BBC and ITV Region bouquets for a full list of BBC & ITV regions.

ive done that, none works, i might of sounded a noob with the ftp stuff, but its been a long time since nag3 kicked in on the cable side of stuff and i aint botherd with the sat side of stuff till now, ive had a glance at the noobs guide to the dm500s but i cant see where im going wrong?

All the BBC & ITV regions are working in the list M8. Try ITV Yorkshire east and Channel 4, if YTV works and most of the other ITV and C4 don't then you are not getting a signal from the lower frequency transponders.

im in a new build flat, with a shared dish, theres sum mad connections that i dont understand on the wall, theres sat1, sat 2, tv, radio, and another plug with nowt on it? ive got the box pluged in sat1 witch is giving me 80/90 odd percent signal but no fix in the setup? how do i get signal from the lower frequency transponders??
