As the title states has anybody ever tried putting a two way hdmi splitter onto the end of a cat5 extender. The cat 5 cables are only 20 metres long. Labgear the manufacturer says the extenders are capable of up to 50 metres and it runs fine in hd on the first tv
The reason for this is to run a second tv from the first in a bar with a good quality 15 metre 24awg hdmi cable running to the second tv. This seems to be my best option at the minute so did anybody try it before as i dont want to spend 60 or 70 quid to find out it doesnt. Sorry mods if this is in the wrong section |

Theres no reason why it shouldnt work.. Mines different to how you're wanting, I have a splitter going into a Cat5 extender, about 20m run of cat5 cable and it works fine.. Like I said, I see no reason why how you want to do it shouldnt work..

No they wont work. HDMI over Cat5 isnt actually anything to do with networking even though it uses ethernet cable.. Cat5 cable is used purely to join 2 Baluns together, they are an HDMI sender balun (input) and an HDMI receiving balun (output).. It serves the purpose of being able to send an HDMI signal over a greater distance than an HDMI cable alone is capable of. Cat5 is also much easier to chase through walls.

Just wanted to confirm that that splitter worked on the end of the hdmi extender through the 15 metre hdmi cable with no loss of quality or sound to second tv plus timing of 2 tvs is the same as regards picture, £70 well spent. Thanks for all your help Nibblitz.
