Default no more old boxes re hit

just called up sky in regards to a hd box and card i brought of ebay to get freesat for my house mate

they said they will only send out a freesat card for £25 and will not re hit any old/second hand boxes unless it goes on a monthly deal

i thought i read somewhere they do a manual hit for old boxes, or was i wrong?

Why would they need to hit an unsubscribed box? Its only the free channels it will get..

They are not supporting Thomson boxes any more. If you have another box with the latest firmware, you can pair a card manually from the active menu, if that's what you mean.

Am I being dumb? But isnt pairing only required for getting premium channels & box office, neither of which are freesat anyway... What are you hopiing to achieve by being hit, or paired, or whatever else you mean?
