Please can someone help me!
My Sky box was working perfectly until two days ago when some of the channels started breaking up. Then I couldn't get any channels at all and keep getting the message 'no satellite signal received'. (I don't subscribe to Sky anymore but just have the free channels) Since then I have tried a spare sky box my friend had, the same thing happened. I've also tried yet another sky box my parents had but the same message appears. It seems a bit too much of a coincidence for none of the boxes to be working, so it looks like it could be the satellite dish which is at fault, yet when I linked up a run-of-the mill digital satellite receiver I was able to receive many channels OK. Please can someone shine some light on what is wrong. TIA |

Sounds like a faulty LNB, or that the dish has moved or been knocked

Also check the connections, both at the receiver, and the LNB, re-do them, ensuring you have left sufficient braid contacting the F Connector but not touching the central wire.
While doing this check the cable for damage, and signs of water ingress. If the cable, and connections, are fine, then do as radtv suggests and check the dish hasn't moved. You should also check your receiver on another dish, to confirm your receiver is working correctly. When you checked with the non-sky receiver what were the signal quality/strength readings? |
