Has Sky always had the phone line requirement for multi-room subscriptions ever since Sky Digital launched in 1998 or did they only just introduce the phone line requirement a while later when they caught onto the fact that people were using their multi-room boxes at other addresses? If they introduced the requirement later on after 1998, when would it have been?

Think your right there, afaik, the phone line has always been a requirement for all multiroom packages and all other packages where a subsidised box was included (although in that case you are free to disconnect the modem after 12 months if you have no multiroom).

because the so called box is subsidised by BIB which is a consortium of BT, Major banks and Interactive companys hoping that you will use some of there services available. On the other hand if you pay the £25 not to have a phone connected then Sky subsidise your free box. Of course though all Multiroom subscriptions require all boxs to be connected anyway. |

This is to allow you to use Box office and view your billing online\ upgrade your package, having this facility available on impulse makes it more likely customer will part with their money, that said unless you have Multi Room they have no penalty or anything to enforce it

Alot of people use the words "Have to be" but from personal experience (I have 3 multirooms) my boxes have never been connected to the phone line except at the time of initial setup, and I have been with Sky for over 3 years and never once have been asked to connect them to the phone lines or been sent warning letters etc..

Send me your details are i'll arrange one to drop through your door.
Trust me you will get one and its a must and part of the terms and conditions and Sky are ramping up CLI violations and more are getting caught every day. Quote:
