Just had a huge Thunder storm here - Got smoke coming out of my UPS, lost 1 PC, ADSL Router and the NIC on another PC that was connected to that router.

I'm going to have to see what goodies the Insurance company will buy me.

That sucks. I know you have insurance but it still is a pain to now have to deal with them. We have a big storm here headed our way now. Maybe I should just shut everything down.

We haven't ever had electrical damage, thankfully. Did you have them on a surge protector? I don't know what I'd do, probably cry until I got a replacement.

Sorry to hear that lincsat ! right pain in the A**, hope you get it sorted with the Insurance company. i have everything on surge protectors "just in case"

Got an ACER E630 (or something like that) Dual core Pentium processor, 1gig ram, 250gig SATA2 HD, XP MCE - Getting a new LCD Monitor that hasn't arrived yet and £175 quid to pay for the rest.

Not a bad deal at the end of the day - just taking forever to re-load the PC

Wow that's scary...where I am we have a lot of good rainstorms so I always have to have a surge protector...my computer is one of my workplaces! :P

The UPS with built in surge protection was also destroyed !!

We had a huge power cut here last week in work. Our UPS failed, then there was a surge when the generator kicked in. Fried my HDD. At least work have told me to just order a new laptop.

Net time I'm gonna say I had an XBox360, plasma screen and a mini fridge all plugged in at mydesk!!! LOL
