Default Trouble finding Eutelsat 10A

Hi,

Hopefully you may have some tips as I'm almost bald with frustration.

I'm needing to pick up a signal from Eutelsat 10A at 10 east for a work thing, I researched online that from where I am in Scotland a 65cm dish would work. So I covered myself and bought a 1m dish and a universal LNB.

I've got it with a clear line of sight and after much compass work found Hot Bird 9 at 9e which is right next door to Eutelsat 10e, So using a satellite finder I move the satellite further to the south by 3 degrees (as the websites tell me) and theres just no beeping from the finder, I keep going until I do find a satellite, which after doing a scan turns out to be Hot Bird at 13e. Now I've repeated this over and over and I just cannot find Eutelsat in-between these two satellites - Is there something I'm missing here?

I really appreciate any tips or help you may have.

Thank you,

Aaron

I have been messing with 10 east recently, with my 1mtr dish on the shed.
It is not easy to get. What I do is get the elivation and azimuth the best that I can on 9east.Then I put my reciever, on 10east, on a strong tp.Good ones are.11554v sr 3700. 11630h sr1500.11221v sr27500 is strong too.
Then I move the dish very slowly a knats whisker to the east untll I get a signal. The distance on the pole is something like 1/2 a mm.

PS for some reason.I get 79% quality on11387v sr30000.On my TM5402HD.But nothing on my other boxes.
It is also a good idea to have your box on the signal meter, not a channel. It takes a while to render a picture so you can pass the sat before your box can show it.

Why move 3 degrees? If on 9E just nudge the dish 1 degree East. You might also find you can pick up the channels, from 9E, when pointing at 10E, as they are so close together and some of the transponders are very powerful.

Are you sure you found 9E?

If you found Hotbird, 13E, then you need to move the dish 3 degrees west:

Appreciate the freqs you listed there, One of the issues and unknowns for me was what channel to tune into whilst trying to find 10E. I notice you didn't pop down FEC or the Modulation type, Does that not matter when you're just trying to find the satellite?

You are correct of course, I confused moving it 3 degrees from 13E rather than 9E. And yes I'm 99% sure I found both 9E and 13E based on channels on them.

The receivers that I use when looking for different satellites on my shed dish are none linux. The fec is automatic.
Looking on lyngsat. 11221v is 3/4 fec. 11554v is 5/6. 11630 is 5/6. 11387 is 3/4.

11221v is encrypted.BFBS channels on that.. 11554v I think that Al Rasheed tv is clear.11630h Thalqalan tv is clear. But I can only get that with my TM 5402 box.11386v is encrypted chelsea tv and pltv are on that.
But as I said I use the signal meter to find the satellite. Not a channel. So it doe's not matter if a channel is encrypted or not.

I should add that last week I measured my shed dish and found that it measures 87x97cm.So it is not a meter. As a triax it is a 88cm.I am miffed. But I can get AB7 on it .But I cannot get it on the motorized triax 88cm that is on the house.

So an update.

Appreciate the replies as they have helped.

I can get Rasheed Tv from Eutelsat 10 brilliantly however my receiver isn't picking up the transponder I need (11305v). (I can assume that this is because the 11305 transponder is quite weak?) Would buying something like the TM-5402HD help here? What Im currently using is the Elgato EyeTV Sat Free which was £70.

11305 V 30000 is listed as a feed so might not be broadcasting.
Just checked and they are broadcasting some BISS encrypted feeds.
You need to set your receiver to scan 11305 V 30000 DVB-S2 8PSK 5/6

Can you get anything on any of the following?
11387 V 30000 DVB-S2 8PSK 3/4

11630 H 1500 DVB-S2 8PSK 3/4

11221 V 27500 DVB-S

I have had a look at 11305v sr30000 .Using my TD88 dish,and my TM5402HD.
I get 79% quality..Eight channels. Service 1 to 8..As mentioned above all are encrypted.

Been waiting to try those freqs but the weather has stopped me.

The channel we're after won't show anything until a particular day, Would it show up as a channel before then? Or does it have to show an image to come up. Im unsure how these feeds work.

It probably will not be active until it shows a feed but you should get the channels mentioned.
If you can't get anything on the frequencies I've listed the ones I've listed then your dish still isn't aligned correctly.
Please post back with signal strength/quality readings from any channels you pick up, and check lyngsat.com to see if you're on the right satellite.
