This forum seems to be the most fitting because you can physically see what the camera's are looking at etc..
Any way, I want a relatively cheap home security solution, but want some value for money as well. I want some relatively good quality stuff, so if someone is say to break in, then you can see the relatively clearly So far, I've seen this: Home 4CH CCTV DVR Day Night Weatherproof Security Camera Surveillance System | eBay With a 500GB HDD: Intenso 6501131 500GB 5400rpm 8MB SATAII 2.5".. | Ebuyer.com along with this burglar alarm: Wireless Wired Home Alarm GSM SMS Intruder System For Garage Storage House | eBay (Ideally, I want a wired only setup, and I'm guessing 7 "defence zones" means 7 rooms) Total cost: £222.95 Does any one know if I can get any better for my money, or if you would suggest something different? EDIT: What about this for a CCTV system? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...#ht_4029wt_698 Cost of £275 for seemingly a good quality product?

try to avoid ebay, i have been stung a few times off there, now i usually buy my CCTV equipment from Aban - Suppliers of CCTV Cameras, Security Systems, DVRs - Manchester based in manchester and good quality equipment, really good at returning faulty stock as well.
Also dont go for the shitty 420TVL cameras, go for the 600 and 700TVL cameras as they give a better picture and also make sure your DVR is D1 capable and works on ALL browsers, some only work on internet explorer 7 and below Last edited by the insaan; 14-06-12 at 11:36 PM. |

Ouch. Wasn't expecting to pay that much! I know you say to stay away from eBay, but this one seems to have Sony chips inside them, and are 600TVL?

chips don't mean anything, it's all down to the quality of the lens and sensor. I fit CCTV for a living and the basic outdoor dome cameras from aban are very good. Most of the CCTV stuff on ebay is fake, you'll end up with a webcam type CMOS sensor camera and not the proper CCD one

![]() I suppose at the end of the day, I just want some form of CCTV system, capable of showing some sort of a picture and audio if possible, which acts as a deterrent to others and also allows people to be caught if they do break in EDIT: Is there any thing better than this? http://www.aban.co.uk/4-sony-exview-...ess-2447-p.asp The camera's look a little dated. I also see this: http://www.aban.co.uk/2x-600tvl-shar...ity-1122-p.asp But seemingly, there's no option for viewing over android devices or over 3G?

both very good on them links, in the first link that DVR works on any browser, whereas most cheap ones will only work on IE 7 or below.
In the second link the cameras are good nut make sure they come with brackets because Aban sell them seperately and doesn't usually include them with bullet cameras. 99% of the DVrr's sold by Aban have mobile phone capability, the software for android and iphone is called Meye or VMeye |
