Looks like that TV is made just for Asda, there's no product support for it all on Polaroid website.. Can we assume other HDMI devices connected to the TV produce sound ok? If they do then surely its a problem with the freeview box.. Is there any appropriate settings on the Freesat box that might be defining how its output on HDMI is sent? Or how about on the TV, any settings to do with how the HDMI inputs are configured?

Have you got anything else HDMI you can plug into the TV to test? Like a Laptop, Bluray player, Sky Box? If the TV behaves the same with everything then surely its a duff TV? If you've got nowt else HDMI you can try on the TV, try your Freesat box on a friends TV... But it does smell like your TV's HDCP handshaking isnt working..
