So guys I just want to know is it true I can get a package worth £28 a month 30mb internet and a phone service too?? That's the offer I've seen but I've noticed with all ISP's they over charger by about 5 quid or so for nothing really. Would virgin ever do this and also how reliable is there service now as compared to maybe 6 or 7 years ago when it was ntl and service was fair crap!!

Virgin Media have recently started rolling out "double speeds" so if you sign up for a 30MB package, I expect you will receive 60MB (assuming the double speed upgrade has taken effect in your area).
Their "first-time" plans are usually quite reasonable, but they start to nail you with higher bills once you have been a customer for a set length of time (usually after around 18 months or so). We had calls offering us services all the time when we had been with them for just over 24 months - each package was offered "cheap" to begin with and they started asking if we wanted to add more and more (more channels, faster broadband etc). |

mr_shazzi, nothing else come close to Virgins Cable Broadband in terms of speed and reliability.. But when they introduce new pricing plans, older customers usually end up paying more for their service unless they ring up and moan and ask for a revision to their service pricing, this normally then means signing onto a new 18 month contract.. But all in all, Virgin provide a great service.. It works out best value if you take all 3 services, TV, Phone & Broadband...
Bl4k3y, new customers signing up wont be getting speeds doubled anytime, as they'll be signed up on the new "collections" package. The doubling of speeds is for customers on the old "bundles" packages, they're only being doubled to bring them into line with the pricing of the new "collections" packages, its not actually a free speed upgrade...

The pricing bit is the thing that makes me want to slap Virgin in the face and all the other ISP's out there. They give you one monthly price but each month it's probably about £10 more on top even if you have direct debit linked to pay your bills.
I had this guy in my town some Virgin Media sales rep tell me for £28 or roughly £30 he can give me 60mb internet instead of the 30mb which Virgin is selling on their website, confronted his mistake he goes 'oh don't worry I'll sort it out for you' then again he was a paki sales rep (before you all call me a racist I'm a paki myself, blakey can confirm that) anyways besides the point. So he seems kinda fishy. |
