Gone down the sat route 2 months ago and glad i have ..............top grade .

What i am after is info on how to increase my signal strength , some channels bang on in the 70's but some around the 20 mark and not strong enough .

Only a bigger dish will help, providing the dish is aligned correctly. You can try adjusting the LNB, skew it slightly, rotate it in its holder, to increase the signal, and try a different focal point, again to peak the signal.
Can you please provide more details, regarding the channels, satellites, dish size, and general location.
You might also want to check the satellite footprint maps on sites like kingofsat.net, flysat and lyngsat.

Yes the weather can affect a signal, but with such a marked difference, 70% to 20% it is more likely the satellite beam.
In the UK you can get a lot of channels with a 45cm dish, as these are powerful, including 28E, 19E and 13E, but also some channels, on different beams, might only be available using a larger dish, 80cm, or bigger, depending on the channel and location.
Some channels, on other satellites, might require a 2.4M dish, as they are not meant for the UK, or might not be receivable at all.
