Hay people, well after spending day's trying to figure this out I just can't seem to find an answer.
My TV is a 5 years old Hitachi PD5200 at first I thought it might be a PSU problem as these TV are know to have on, having checked all the CAPS and gave it a good look over every thing seems fine, TV works perfect no problems starting, sounds good BUT from time to time (well a lot) it makes a clicking noise, this gets worse when I turn the brightness setting up mainly. I have noticed when I turn all the setting for the colour down the clicking stops. The noise is coming from the PSU board from what I understand it's some sort of protection relay that's making the clicking noise (something like that). I really have no idea what's going on if any has any idea's it will be most appreciated. Many thanks Jon. |

google and download the service manual, your tv probably has a self diagnostic mode, normally accessed with the remote, it sounds like a component is failing as you say it will trip itself out with a fault, its easier to replace the boards than try to repair sometimes the parts are hard to source, the boards are available on e bay or if you again google you can get exchange or used boards just quote the part number and model .

Thanks for the replay, done the diagnostic test, nothing shows up.
I don't really want to replace the hole board, will have to think weather it worth it. I will have a look around see how much they are. Cheers. |

Try checking all the voltages first, the manual will show what they are they shouldnt be more than 3% out that will show if its the PSU, i would guess its more likely on the main board.

Hi, the sounds coming from the inductor on the PSU the one next to the 2 relays, after researching this, it's seem it's arcing.
Have no idea how to fix this other then getting a new PSU board. Some epoxy might dampen the clicking, someone suggested changing the 2 big caps nearest to it but after reading another post relating to this it seems that will not help... STUCK. |
