smart tv & memory stick advice ?

i have just bought a LG 42LM620T Full HD 42" LED 3D TV smart tv
the advice i need is > i have an 8gig usb memory stick in the tv but when i try to record a program it says this memory stick does not support dvr ? any advice would be great . When i looked in the tv information it say;s you have to use a usb memory stick 40gig or higher
dont want to go and buy a 40gig memory stick and find out that it still wont support it . any help would b great thanks

Apparently your TV indicates it needs a USB HDD (Hard Disk Drive) for PVR function, unfortunately a memory stick isnt a hard disk.. But anyhoo, did you attempt initialising the memory stick first..

"USB HDD must be initialized to be used for DVR.
When connecting a USB HDD that has not been initialized, select MY APPS ➾
DVR. USB Device Initialization screen appears.
Complete the USB HDD initialization, and set Timeshift Mode to On."

when i go to my usb drive it just open;s it up ? does not let me do anything just opens it ?

does not give me any other option ?

try formatting your stick to Fat 32 when I do this it works fine.

Wont make a difference on his TV... It needs to be formatted by the TV (initialised) then any recording will be in the TV's own proprietary encypted DVR format, this it to prevent playback & copying of HD content on other devices... Additionally, his TV states it needs a Hard Disk for PVR functionality, so if it doesnt accept a memory stick for PVR then thats the TV's design...
