Default How to extend the power cable on my Toshiba TV

I have just bought a new Toshiba LED 3D TV. The power cable is too short so I want to extend it. But the instruction manual states not to remove the fitted plug as it has a Radio Interference Filter installed. So how do I extend the cable? Would cutting the plug off and leaving some cable so i can just add a bit more cable and connect the factory plug back to it work?

Thanks

Why dont you just use an extension cable, its not good practise to cut and shut the lead and will probably void the guarantee.
