Press the channel up and channel down buttons together and keep pressed in, put power to your box and the engineers menu will come up in 20 -30secs

it could be a 1000b or a 2000 model, turn power off, then on, hold down up and down buttons.

hi, a newbie
need some help regarding the engineers menu.
i have had this box for 2 years now, used to get the card updated from the guy whom i got the box from.
recently came across this forum.. hav to admit its brilliant..
but i am facing problems getting into the enigeneers menu.. have tried all the buttons as suggested, but it wont work.
can they be disabled or blocked ? because the guy i got the box from works as ntl installer, so probably he has done something to it. also tried but finding it very hard to open the box to check inside
any help or suggestions please

You need to press and hold down the Ch+ and Ch- buttons in front of the box and then plug in the power cable at the back....hold it until it say "diag" and then you will get the menu.
