Default parallel port

my parallel port doesnt seem to be working on the back of my computer although it is enabled in bios and shown as working in device manager, every time i try and run a program it says cannot initilize port driver or conenct the cable to the pc but its already connected. ive tried the port in all modes and address but nothing. any one have any ideas?

Hi Slacky. Wots the Motherboard? Wot are you running from the parallel port?

Have you tried looking at the port settings in the bios?

Hmm. There are no conflicts (IO) showing in device manager? Did it work before?

If all else fails you can get a usb parallel port cable.

ive just brought a parallel port pic card and put it in, installed and every thing showing in device manager as working, but still the same cannot initilize port driver. this is really starting to do my head in now

i think a program/driver or hardware might be interfearing with the parallel port driver, any one have any ideas what it could be?
