We had a central mixer tap in the bathroom which was quite old & the hot water pressure used to be good but then it got slower & slower until nothing came out at all. We had a couple of plumbers round with the view of replacing the tap & both said because as the tap was quite old 'something had probably broken inside it' causing the flow to be affected. We hired one of these guys to fit a new one & although the water runs from the hot now, its very slow. The pressure from the bath in the same room is good/powerful. We have checked the the flexi hoses are not kinked but they seem ok. Our plumber has now gone on holiday for two weeks so we cannot contact him till beg of July but if anyone has any idea what could be causing this problem I would be so very grateful for any replies. thank you in anticipation

isolating valves are like a small inline valve that you put a screw driver in to turn off
gate valves are normally larger and made of brass with a red wheel head to turn off i think you have got muck in you r pipe and it its blocking you pipe on the end of your tap can you unscrew it, right on the end because some times they have a filter on the end just unsrew it and clean it out or you could try this if its tank and cylinder that you have got ? put the palm of your hand over the end of your tap so no water can come out now turn on the hot and cold taps and hold it for thirty seconds if you havent got any non return valves on pipes? the pressure of the cold supply will blast any muck back up the hot water pipe back in to tank hope this helps |
