Default Important: Donations and Downloads

This is just to let you know that for everybody who provided donations via the previous donations link, you have my sincere thanks for your support.

However, the previous donations section was not set up correctly, and I've instructed that all payments made to that account be fully refunded.

I'm also working to set up a downloads section on Techwatch itself, so that *all* members can freely access the latest software updates and upgrades, and other useful applications, free of charge.

I've also asked lincsat if he would be able to set up a new donations system. This will be entirely voluntary, with any money donated shared among the site moderators as a thank you for putting in the time and effort to provide free technical help and support for all Techwatch members and readers. It probably won't add up to much, but I figure any thanks to them is better than none.

It'll probably take a few days to get everything set up, but once it is, I'll ensure you're all updated.

In the meantime, any questions, feel free to ask.

Brian
I fully agree that donations need to be voluntary but I also think the moderators almost got it right with Javids website. I think he has to be thanked for his time & efforts and has possibly been misunderstood throughout this saga.
I happen to agree that there needs sto be some control who has access to the data, much the same as it was on the old gmail site.... ie 20 good messages then free access. However if people did want to come on the site and donate a small sum for instant access then so be it...after all this would be totally voluntary.
I've just visited the site and it's a credit to javid, at the moment access is open to all but I'm not sure this is the best option, after all most sites like this one have a bit of control over the downloads.
It seems a great shame that we don't make use of javids site now it has been made.

I'd be interested in your, and others thoughts on this matter.

Bubba i too would like to thank Javed for his efforts on the website.

All i would say is that most of us here don't know how Javed has gone about
setting this site up. Just having a quick look around and most of the moderators and administators have been members of this site for at least 18 months, whereas Javed only joined in March.
But if he did decide to do this website off his own back with little corespondence with the longer standing members of this forum,
then you can understand the slight confusion it has caused.
If i had been a member and i had a great number of posts but felt like i had not been consulted then i would be a bit disappointed
in how it had been done.

If i am doing Javed a disservice and he did have a long discusion
with the people who matter then i apologise now.

James

I am really really pleased that people are looking in to my work. i am not worried anymore about the donations or money. As long as people think that i did all this to help others who are new and dont now this "magic" i am happy with that. I am still happy that my website is used to downlod the softwares i have got more than 1000 hits. i will make it sure that it will remain there for every one unless TECHWATCH ADMINISTRATION finds a permamnet solution where to host the files. if any one wants to contribute in my website you are more than welcome.
Cheers

I think Javed did a great job as well, and it's a genuine shame there were some miscommunication issues from the start. Because of those I thought it much better to see refunds issued, so that those who had already donated did not feel as if they're been misled or misrepresented once the new section went up. Better to try and keep everybody happy than risk any further confusion.

I'd really like to thank all Techwatch staff publicly because they do a great job in helping the people who joined the forums, and I can only try and do my part by setting up an official area where we can ensure full access to Techwatch members for all the relevant downloads.

Thumbs up Re: Important: Donations and Downloads

I too would like to thank all the mods/admin who run this place, it has been a constant source of knowledge to me, The only thing that may be against me is the fact that I do not post much at all....only because I do not have the knowledge to do so, and would not like to give wrong advice to anyone, I do login EVERY day and read all the new posts, but dont reply too often , if the forum goes the way of only allowing members who have posted xxx times to gain access to the download area, then I think either people will just post rubbish to get the post count up...or will leave to go elsewhere. I look forward to see the outcome Re this.
