yes bbc3 can be a bit odd

ill post my frequency's but i live i b/ham west mids so they may be different but here they are

387.00mhz, v-pid-5200, a-pid-5201, p-pid-5200
411.00mhz, v-pid-620, a-pid-621, p-pid-620
411.00mhz, v-pid-620, a-pid-32767, p-pid-8191 [sound can be odd on this one]

so what ya need to do is, go to User Installation look for 387 & 411 on the list press ok on each one to put a tick on them, then press manual scan
see if that picks it up

yes, i think it can depend on the time of day when you scan your box, what ive been doing latley is doing a manual scan in the morning and in the evening to make sure i get both sets, bbc3 and childrens although ive noticed the past week or two ive been getting both sets on a single scan.

Eurovox Max, How To Tell Which Box You Have. Red or Blue

If you look at the picture's of the receiver box above you see it's a Eurovox max v.3
But the software required for these box's refer to them as Blue box and Red Box.
So what's meant by blue box and red box, what's the difference and how do you tell.

Well it's the packaging the receiver box came in that is blue and red.
Here's some examples.

This is the Red Box 2007 series

This is the Blue Box 2006 series

So Both Eurovox Receivers 2006/2007 physically look the same but come in different package's
But the 2006 and 2007 units have different Tuner Modules inside the case redbox-2007 has smaller tuner module
And other circuit differences, that's why they need different firmware files.

So how do you tell the difference if you don't know what package box they came in?
Well there is a way of telling,
if you look down at the top of the eurovox and look at the top right hand side you will see a metal can between the grills, this is the tuner module.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ↓

See the Arrow pointing to the silver metal tuner module
Now if you count the slots how far the metal can goes down to
If it goes down 8 slots it's a eurovox max 2007 red box version.
If it goes down 12 slots it's a eurovox max 2006 blue box version.

Hope this helps, good luck!! more info and pics here The Temporary Fix |

Here's a picture of the older Eurovox v.2

As you can see this is totally different to the Eurovox Max so there's no mix up there.

You will need a 'Null modem Serial cable' to load the Firmware file to these units.
and 'DnUpMan' or 'Voxer' is the software tool required to do this.
also you can plug 2 eurovox's together for box-box transfer
goto Menu/ Config/ System Info/ press 1968, hidden options will appear.

Note: there are suspected clone blue-box units around, if you think you have a blue-box unit, dont rush into loading the latest f/w 1/6/2007, until your happy its an original unit, go with f/w 19/2/2007 to be safe, until this is sorted out, or you risk bricking your unit, theres plenty info about this in the forum , play it safe.

quick Eurovox Tutorial by racky29.

=== And the newer Eurovox Max V 2008 (Black-Box) ===

Note: the software required for these receivers now come as a unified file loader UFL
which means DnUpMan is not needed anymore, DnUpMan is built into the the software
so it now comes as just one single file which has a Blue, red or black banner at the top
so you cant go wrong with which ones to load, as you see here.

Hi i live near b/ham some times you get both depends on what time you scan but they can be found later under the channels with no names just look though channel list and then name it bbc etc it will show the children channels in the day and the childrens channels show bbc on a night when it changes over i just use it like as its not a main channel i watch all the time .
