Hello everyone, I've been reading for a week or so now.
My virg*n cable connection is due to be installed this Thursday. I am having two TV connections in two different rooms and a broadband connection upstairs. I've read that my broadband cable can be split to be connected to a eurovox. Will this affect my download speeds? If I have three eurovoxes split from each cable to 3 TVs in 3 different rooms), is there any chance it would cause signal degradation? If there is anything else you think I should know please do let me know. Also, what is the number of connections one would recommend as the maximum to split from each cable? Thanks in advance guys |

Have a word with the installer and see if he will put you some extra points in - tell him you might want to move the TV to another room and the Internet could be moved at some time and you want to be prepared.
It would be worth a few quid to have everything ready

Hello and thanks for your reply but I think perhaps I've not explained myself properly or maybe I still don't understand how this whole thing works.
Let's discuss the broadband first of all. Where the wire comes in through the wall, there will be a point on the room inside where the wire comes in and you attach it to your modem. If I install a cable splitter to that wire, can I simultaneously use it for both the internet and TV (connected to eurovox) at the same time? If this is the case and can be done as above, will it affect my download speeds? I will have a TV connection in room 1 and another TV connection in room 2. (Paying an extra monthly fee, 2 x TV size L packages in total) It's most likely I will have 3 eurovoxes if I can connect a eurovox to the internet cable. If all eurovoxes are running at the same time, as well as the internet.. will I experience signal degradation or are there any known problems with having so many connections? I hope this clarifies what I'm querying. |

You can split the signal like you say (I sell the splitters to do the job) - it shouldn't affect your download speed. Every time you split the signal it does drop the signal strength, usually there is enough margin to cope with that signal loss.
If you bung the installer for putting the extra points in for you, he should make sure you have enough signal to cope - if he's prepared to do it. |
