Unhappy Euro-vox Max Driving Me Nuts!!

Hi all.

I have a Euro-Vox Max box and can recieve upwards of 200 channels which is great, when they work. Im having real problems with quality levels and find most of my channels sitting at 8%. Sometimes they work and sometimes they dont. I can be sat watching something, change channel and find that i have a/ no channels or b/ all the channels but I cant watch any of them because they are all blocky and giving of an annoying chipping noise. I seem to always suffer with Discovery channels and have never been able to watch them, whcih i can live with but now Im finding that more and more channels are being affected more regularly. I've read page after page of the advice here and tried a lot of the things that have been suggested but to no avail. Im mostly having problems with Frequency 635 and am seriously beginning to consider giving up.

Does anyone have any possible explanations and/or solutions for this problem? My connections both inside and out seem to be fine. Im with Virgin Media by the way.

Any help greatly appreciated.

have you tried slightly adjusting your transponder frequencys, try adjusting by 0.5 on 635.000 which would become 635.500 have a read of this if youve not already done so

Yeah I've tried that. it seems to improve the pictures a bit, but they're still jumpy. And if I add an extra .5 on, or minus 1 I seem to lose signal all together. I've thought about adding .250 .300 etc but with 200plus channels Im hoping theres possibly an easier way?

some of mine are eg 522.750.you dont need to do it to 200+ channels, you just do it to the transponders, you should have about 30ish.
What box is it blue or red?
what firmware have you got on it?

Its the red box I think, well it came in a red box. As for firmware I really dont know. All I got in the box, was the box itself and some instructions. its just so annoying because sometimes the pictures are perfect then they are awful. If I could understand it I wouldnt mind so much.

Found this CDF for ex-telepest in Fife/Edinburgh ~ it's worth a blast, you'll need a null modem cable to transfer it.

youve got january firmware on it,didnt even no there was any jan firmware, does it have a now and next bar across the botom of the screen.you could try reflashing it with the feb firmware if you pm me your email addy i will send it you but you will need a null modem cable to flash it with.If you look through the top of the box were the RF in goes and count how many grills the tuner goes too, think its 12 on a blue box and 8 on a red just to confirm which box you have as theres different firmware for the blue and red
