Hi peakey

You will find your best DL speeds are early in the mornings as the Internet in your area is not so busy, meaning that the link from your PC to your local exchange is not been used as much "eg" if i want to DL Music or a DVD i do it around 5-6am and i can hit 7MB DL on a speed test

Thanks Bandit, X , a speed test here >

Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

and >

http://www.2wire.com/bandwidth/meter.php?kbps=3949.4

Run each and it will give you a general idea of your speed (note speed tests are only approximate)

Ann

If you have usenet try downloading with multiple connections otherwise try a download from a fast site - like Microsoft, or even a Linux Distro using a Download accelerator like Flashget and see what speed you get.

Speedtest.net tells me I get 4 meg download, but I can download at up to 30meg from Usenet

But say you want to download from many different servers i think you need to try many downloads from many sources instead of just looking at your fastest so your not giving your self a one speed reading instead of the whole picture, downloading can vary greatly from one server to the next
