Hi Steve

To OC your CPU you will need to increase the FSB in BIOS (that is if your P4 is not locked, some are) you will access your BIOS via an F key or Del for your overclocking experiment you need to increase the CPU frequency, which is calculated as the CPU clock frequency multiplier multiplied by the bus frequency. For example, if the nominal frequency of the Intel Celeron D 310 processor is 2.13GHz, its multiplier is 16x, and the bus frequency is 133MHz (133.3 x 16 = 2133MHz). In other words, you have either to increase the multiplier or to raise the FSB bus frequency, or raise both these parameters accordingly and at increments of no more than 2 at a time then run a bench test, a P4 if its 3GHz showing at start raise slowly " 2 at a time" to 3.60GHz thats a good OC see how that runs for a week.

Cooling If your running a stock cooler Don't OC you need something like i have posted in the pictures, if you need links for P4 Coolers i can supply them, some links below you may need

Benchmark programs "free" > Benchmark HQ

Any Questions / Problems please post back, Ann

Hi Steve

1) First try a System Restore Click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore and go back to a point before you was in Task Manager, also check Sounds and Audio Devices Click Start > Control panel > Sound and Audio Devices and check everything is switched on.

2) I'm assuming (since you didn't provide any system specs) this is a store purchased computer. If it is, you should have received a system disk with it. If so, all your drivers for all hardware should be on this disk.
If it isn't a store purchased system, you should be able to find all the drivers you need on the disk provided with the motherboard.
If you don't have either disk, then please provide your system specs so that I may be able to provide you some links to manufacturers driver sites.

Ann

Hi Steve

Glad you fixed it, one very good application for keeping an eye on your overclocked system is CPU-Z its a stand alone so does not need to be installed and can gather information on some of the main devices of your system and has a good accurate read out for CPU, Download > Here
