Question Eurovox beginner - setup question

Hi there,

Thanks for allowing me access to a great forum with tons of useful info and advice. I've read many posts in an attempt to educate myself.

I've only recently registered with TechWatch so this is my first post. I am on the verge of buying the Eurovox Max V and am a noob to this sort of thing so have a couple of questions I'd like to ask you all.

I have a VM broadband package and previously had a TV package with them although cancelled it a few months ago,
as they continually overcharged and would not sort it out much to my annoyance. Anyway, my point is, I have the necessary cabling in place and still use the broadband although I'm not currently subscribed to a TV package and of course no longer have the VM set-top box.

When I plug the VM TV lead coming from the cable splitter box directly into my TV, I can still pick-up the 5 standard terrestrial channels. I have not tested this cable with another set-top box although I'm assuming I would still be able to pick-up the Freeeview channels from that cable (I'm totally guessing about that one!)

My questions are:

1). Will I need to have at least a basic TV package from VM in order to use the Eurovox?
2). Are there frequency codes or other information that I would need for my city/area in order to pick-up channels?

Thanks for taking the time to read and any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Marco

hiya,

as long as you have broadband then you should be able to pick everything up. When you plug the box in and do a full powerscan then it will pick everything up.

I have a eurovox max 2007 red box and that picks up everything except 1 channel...and i dont have any subscriptions any more

Hello again,

I received the box today and within about 30 minutes I had about 240-250 channels after going through the setup instructions. As the channel listings are a bit jumbled, (I know I have to sort them out) I haven't noticed if there are any missing but all the main channels I was hoping for are there

Thanks a lot for the guidance. I continue to visit the site to read threads and keep up with developments and will contribute if I can. I didn't receive a CD with my package but I have the RS232 lead and I have noticed the PC software and latest flash files available for download on a couple of sites.
